deleting a few…

I deleted some REALLY old posts because somehow they had become spam fodder and I got tired of deleting the spam. :)

Backtracking…

Well, iWeb is not showing me the bloggy love I wanted it to. You will see a handful of posts show up before this one sort of out of the blue, because I am transferring all the stuff I had on my .mac site to here. I really, really love the themeing they have in iWeb. It’s a shame the blog part is so terrible.

Happy Halloween!!

Spent the beginning of today on a hunt for k’s hat for her costume… Hard to really look like a kitty without kitty ears! Well, we texted Daddy and apparently she left her hat at his work on Monday. Oh well. We went to the library storytime/parade anyway, with her in her tailed tutu.

Anyway, in crafting news, I am finally back at it, and it feels GOOD. I’ve started making a (much needed) new bag for myself, using some yummy Amy Butler fabric quarters I got for my birthday and some tan ultrasuede. I am kinda making it up as I go along, and loosely basing the design on a new bag The Amy is releasing this Fall that I cannot afford right now. I’ve got big plans for the inside - special, lined sippy pockets (idea courtesy of another blogger that I will look up and link when I have internet again.. thanks, Comcast…), a coordinating “spare stuff” pouch, and a key clip. Nothing revolutionary, just a bunch of stuff I don’t have in my current (circa 1999 Gap) tote I carry.
I will update with pics as soon as I have it completed!

****UPDATE****
Ok, so I can't post photos the old-fashioned way anymore apparently… I will have to put them in Coppermine.. PHOOEY what a pain!

A dose of cuteness to start off your week…

I intended on making Katelyn an elephant for her first Halloween costume, because it really is her favorite animal ever… But recently she has taken to crawling around on the floor and meowing, so I changed plans at the last minute and made her a kitty! I found the hat pattern online at instructables , and got the idea for a tutu kitty from Prissypoofs .

She loves it, calls the tutu a cute-tute! I think the best part is the rear view, the little ribbon over the tail, hanging over the puffy tutu, and of course the cute, cozy ears up top.

I will add images as soon as I can… (grumble.)

Moving on?

I am considering re-re-restarting this pathetique blog….but I think I am going to do it Apple style and switch to an iWeb site…. we will see… Stay tuned…

Hello, Virginia!!

Posted in News by Kelly on the August 27th, 2007

We are heeeeere!!
Well, we have been here for a week now, but have been incredibly, massively, insanely busy. To spare you of the gory details, the week has consisted of:
an all-night drive through several states
lots of coffee, Red Bull, and little sleep
an apartment with a definite FUNK to it
Lots of tears, and good friends coming to the rescue with BROWNIES
a second move
many, many trips to IKEA, including a full-day, multi-meal marathon
too many meals of pizza to count
too many people that can’t merge to save their lives to count
steep, butt-muscle-nuking hills that were totally unexpected
lots of time together as a family :)

I for some reason still have all of our digital photos stored under Katelyn’s account on this computer, which makes it tricky to upload them… I will work that out soon.

Yes, I am still alive!!

Well, I am sure you noticed one heck of a blog break… I pretty much took the entire summer and called it a blogging loss. There wasn’t a whole lot of crafting or anything going on, just loads of frantic packing, cleaning, finishing house-based UFOs, selling half of a giant collection of vintage toys on eBay… OK, so I make the summer sound like it royally sucked. Well, we did have *some* fun- playing at the beach a few times, swimming lessons, tumbling class and going to the Splashpad at Downey Park to keep cool. (yes, pictures will be on Katelyn’s site - or some site - soon.) If it weren’t for Katelyn reminding us to play now and then, this summer would have been a total loss. (of course, if it weren’t for Katelyn reminding us to play ALL the time, the packing might have been less frantic… anyhoo…)
The big move to VA is upon us, and honestly, at this point, I donno where the time went?! When did Virginia come knockin’ on our door? So much to do - yet so much is done… One of those circular things… We’ve made the decision to drive through the night, instead of trying to make a day trip of it for Katelyn’s sake. We leave Sunday evening and will arrive mid-morning Monday to sign paperwork and get keys to our home away from home!

Oh yeah, and my birthday is in a few days… woo……hoo….

Revolutionizing my to-do list

Posted in orangization by Kelly on the May 12th, 2007

Michael discovered a program (from a Macworld article) that has revolutionized my todo list, and will hopefully simplifiy everything from running errands to scheduling my work calls. This program, Ghost Action, is based on David Allen’s Getting Things Done. I had looked at the Getting Things Done idea a while back and it just seemed complicated and overwhelming. Well, with the “cheat sheet” and breakdown of the basic steps found at lifedev, combined with the Ghost Action software, it all makes sense! Basically, you take all of the things you need to do and put them in one”inbox” section, indicating what “project” they are related to. Then, here’s the part that changes everything: You assign each task a “context” - say if the task is to call the vet to get flea meds for the dogs, then that goes under the Calls context. My explination is a rediculously watered-down version… Go to lifedev to get teh real scoop. Will this really help me “GTD”? I think so, because it makes so much sense… but we’ll see!

Liberating.

In prep for our big move (!!!) in the coming months, I am cleaning out and getting rid of a good 3rd of my fabric stash. Some of it I gave away a few weeks ago, the rest of it I am selling! First, I’m offering them for sale independently , then whatever’s left after a week will go up on eBay. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get some of the colors to look right. Point n’ shoot cameras can be so tempermental. If you happen to be interested in one of the fabrics marked “Color is off” but would like a better shot, I will gladly re-take its picture for you. Just let me know. Anyhow, to go to the sale, click HERE! Oh, also, for the best way to see all of the fabric in larger photos, click “view slideshow” in the top right.

I have a feeling that by clearing out some of my fabric that has sat unused for months… Okay so some of it YEARS now, I will actually be able to use what I have more effectively…. Does that make sense? Less is more, I guess!

Demo babes!

Whew. Long day. Katelyn and I were invited by the good folks at ErgoBaby to help demo their product at the the Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association conference; which meant hanging out, talking to people and cruising around the trade show floor with Katelyn in the Ergo carrier. It was lots of fun, but man, it’s been a while since I’d done any kind of tradeshow. I am worn out! The Ergo is actually really comfortable and I think I’d be able to carry Miss Katelyn around DC in it when we go later this year.
